I think the work that FAT Architecture are producing right now is really exciting and relevant to our discussions on Friday.

They dress the buildings like theatre scenery, creating some pretty funky building facades.  Imagine something like this connecting Elephant to the Southbank...

It would definitely give identity to the arterial roads connecting the two.

  1. I agree something like this could work really well. Did you see FAT's project for Waterloo Way?

Some thoughts on the theatre theme... who is the audience? Where is the audience? what is the show (i.e. what are we designing a 'set' for)? Who are the actors/performers? How long is the the scene/act/performance/run (i.e. how permanent or temporary/changing do we want our design to be)?

Theatre design includes: set/scenery (backdrop, flats), props, lighting, sound, costume...

  2. The idea is fantastic but we need something for what goes between the buildings as well I guess...
Something to tie in with the buildings perhaps?

  3. Yeah, I like that...building dressing costumes from different countries perhaps?

  4. Yes, buildings dressing up - really theatrical. Can we green up, colour up. Greenery, finery, make-up...
